He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward James and Lois James; his siblings, Ruth James Moore and Ray James; his son Randall James; his daughter-in-law Jimmie James; and his stepgranddaughter Michelle Duncan.

He is survived by: his wife Willie Wiggs James; and his children, Kay James of Tellico Plains, TN, Steve James (Katherine), Billy James (Deneen) and Keith James (Janie). He is also survived by Seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 14 great, great grandchildren.
