With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ava Walterine Summerlin of Canton, Mississippi, who passed away on July 12, 2025 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Boutwell and Ava Shannon Boutwell (Paul Summerlin); and her children, Paula Feraci, Sam Summerlin and Aubrey Summerlin.

She is survived by: her sons, George Summerlin (Marion) and Paul Summerlin, Jr.; and her grandchildren, Holly Morgan, Allan Summerlin, Joseph Summerlin, Timmy Feraci, Hannah Evans and Rachel Maples.

“I will always cherish the wonderful time I got to spend with her in October 2024. I stayed at her home for the entire week I was there. We would stay up and talk for hours and we did have a lot in common even though Paul Jr. and I are the same age. A couple of months ago I was able to get her a picture of John Ray from about a hundred years ago thanks to Bonnie Lippincott. What an amazing wonderful woman she was. I will hold my memories of her close to my heart. RIP beautiful lady!!!”
