He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Varner and Louise Foster Varner; his son Jeff Varner; and his stepson Ed Blurton. He is survived by: his wife Kay Varner; his children, Brad Varner (Jenny) and Fran Elder (Jim); his stepsons, Joe Blurton and Chris Blurton (Eileen); his sister Judy Varner; his grandchildren, Hayden Varner, Allie Varner, Mary Varner Elder and Janey Elder; and his stepgrandchildren, Clark Blurton (Julie), Laura Katherine Biggs (Stephen), Addie Paczak (John Martin) and Allie Blurton. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Matthews United Methodist Church (7427 Old Canton Rd, Madison, MS 39110).
