She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruby Martin Simms and Williams Gilmore Simms V.; her great-great-grandparent William Gilmore Simms; and her granddaughter Ollie Hise. She is survived by: her friends, Poe, Cooper and Irving; her husband Dan (Dan); her daughter Rivers Trahant (David); her grandchildren, Sarah Simms Mobley (Ty), Walker Bannon Trahant, Abigail Grace Hise, Elle Harper Hise and William Wyatt Hise; her great grandchild Ruth Alice Mobley; her sister Anne Gilmore Simms Pincus (Ronald); her nephews, Alexander Simms Pincus and Miles Randolph Pincus; and her niece Linda Jansen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral (305 E Capitol St, Jackson, MS 39201). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's memory to St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral or the Mississippi Museum of Art.
