He was predeceased by : his parents, Odas Alderman and Mary Wiltshire Alderman; his son Ralph Edward Alderman Jr.; his stepson Reginald R. Davis; and his siblings, Janice A. Hood, Melvin and Jimmy Alderman.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia A. Alderman; his daughter Sandra C. Rowell (J. T. Rowell) of Brandon, MS; his stepdaughter Donna D. Hartly of Prattville, AL; and his sister Martha Ann Spencer (Mike Spencer) of Philadelphia, MS.. He is also survived by three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
