We announce the death of Gerold Linn Schmidt of Clarksdale, Mississippi, who passed away on September 17, 2026, at the age of 71. Gerold will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey J. Schmidt and Pearl Unruh Schmidt; his father-in-law Eugene Buck; and his grandson Neil Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Kris of Carson City, Michigan.; his children, Keela (Tayllor Johnson), Jason (Fonda Schmidt), Jessica (Tyson Unruh) and Melodia (Dave Unruh); his grandchildren, Todd, Clay, Cruz, Nick, Broc, Bo, Eli, Chyanne, Drake, Ted and Benji; his siblings, Verle of Clarksdale, Diana Schmidt of Clarksdale, Dale of Clarksdale, Sharon Schmidt of Clarksdale, Jane and Richard Schmidt of Carson City, Michigan; his mother-in-law Lois Buck; and his brothers, Tim (Edi Buck), Tom (Amy Buck) and Karma Johnson (Kelly Miller).
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Clarksdale Mennonite Church (1900 Reinhart Rd, Clarksdale, MS 38614). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
