He was predeceased by: his son Adam Russell (Cynthia). He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Ory; his sons, Michael Broome of Madison and Phillip Broome of Clinton; and his siblings, Edward, Richard Broome of Clinton and Mary Sue Hutton of Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the Velma Jackson High School Falcon Club for benefit of the Powerlifting team, which his son Michael helps coach.
