He was predeceased by : his son Thomas Martin; his parents, J. P. Ballew and Ruth Adams Ballew; and his sisters, Linda and Cecilia.

He is survived by : his wife Marie Ballew of Columbia; and his children, Pam Gressett of Jackson, MS, Suzette Schmitt (Randall) of Covington, LA, Jenifer Godeaux of Breaux Bridge, LA, Rickey Ballew of Columbia, David Ballew of Columbia, Stephen M. Ballew of Columbia and Doug Zuberbier of Lafayette, LA. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
