She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Smalley and Myrtle Smalley; her husband James C. "Shorty" Howard; her daughter Brenda Edmonds; her stepdaughter Emma; her granddaughters, Laura Avery Hester and Chelsea York; and her siblings, Effie Hunter, Helen Aldridge, Bertha Beaty, Doris Foreman, Morris Smalley and Edward Smalley.
She is survived by: her daughters, Frances Weathers (Stan) of Columbus, MS., Faye Avery (Danny) of Columbus, MS., Barbara Davis of Columbus, MS. and Jimmie Nell Davis of Columbus, MS.; and her grandchild Thirty.
She played in the Senior Citizens Band, participated in RSVP activities (such as quilting), and delighted in helping children with their reading skills as a volunteer at Joe Cook Elementary school.
In lieu of Flowers, the family requests Memorials be made to Methodist Senior Services Sunday Fund for Trinity Place or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
