He was predeceased by: his father Dewitt T. Hicks. He is survived by: his wife Grayce Harkey Hicks; his son Dewitt Talmadge Hicks, III of Dallas; and his grandchildren, David Hardy (Sarah), William Hardy, Natalie Hardy, Talmadge Hicks, Brooke Hicks, Rachael Rowland and Gracie Rowland.
