She was predeceased by: her husband Thomas H. Nelson, Jr.; her brother Milton C. Sanders; her stepchildren, Bernard F. Nelson and Mary Joyce Kister; her granddaughter Samantha Nelson; and her stepgrandson Mike Kister.
She is survived by: her children, Patti Johnson (Kim) of Columbus, MS, Donna Andresen (Eric) of San Rafael, CA and Stephen D. Nelson (Terri) of Luverne, AL; her grandchildren, Beth Madeline (Frank), Becky Stanifer (Mike), Emily Peacock (Ryan), Julie Andresen and Cameron Nelson Reid (Daniel); her stepgrandchildren, Claudia Burleson (Jerry), Pam Jones, Nancy Cohn, Greg Nelson (Cindy), Kim Bessolo (Bob), Brian Nelson, Brad Nelson (Laie), Shannon Cote and Ryan O'Neal; her great great grandchild Holly Phillips (Stuart); her cousin Victor Rea (Peg); and her close friends, John and Betty Noble. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
