He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter E. Barton and Nellie Harrell Barton; his former wife Shirley Moore Barton; and his stepson D. J. Jennings. He is survived by: his wife Olive Anne Barton; his children, Michael Edwin Barton (Cheriee) and Cindy Westmoreland (Daniel); his stepdaughter Lisa Ulmer; his brother Eddie Barton (Judy); his grandchildren, Alan Smith, Amanda Prince, Haley, Joanna Hall (Preston), Summer Barton (Noah Shackelford) and Alaina Gilbert (John); his great grandchildren, Ivy Reynolds, Sutton Reynolds, Briar Shackelford and Wyatt Gilbert; and his nephew Joey Barton (James "Scooter" Barton).
