With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Janelle Forkum (Columbus, Mississippi), who passed away on May 24, 2026 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Janelle departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Janelle. Though Janelle may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leo Swindle and Nellie Treadway Swindle; her husband Richard Forkum; and her sister Patricia Carroll. She is survived by: her daughter Ronda Hinkey (John); her brothers, Larry Swindle and Phillip Swindle; and her granddaughters, Dallas Cheyenne Frayser (Michael) and Sierra Slatton (Jennifer). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and step- great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 at the Vaughn Cemetery.
