He was predeceased by: his parents, Annelle Cooper Haskett and Tom Smith; and his brothers, David Smith and John Smith. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Shepherd Smith; his children, Jason Lamar Smith (Ashley) and Kristi Knight (Shay); his grandchildren, Jase Knight and Braxton Knight; and his siblings, Tom Smith (Alice), Jackie Smith and Patricia Andrews (Steve).
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lowndes Funeral Home (1131 Lehmberg Rd, Columbus, MS 39702). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
