He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Jones and Ruth Lancaster Jones; his daughter Christy Powell; and his grandparents, Olin and Martha Lancaster.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Duncan Powell of Columbus, MS; his daughters, Angel Whittington (Gabe) and Tiffany Dyer (Jason); his grandchildren, Karah Dyer, Duncan Whittington and Peyton Dyer; and his siblings, Johnnie B. Jones, Joey Jones of Columbus, MS, Jeannie Smith of Columbus, MS and Janice Temple. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, a great great niece, and great great nephews.
