He was predeceased by: his parent Willie Mae Hayes; and his brother Stanley Hayes. He is survived by: his wife Mary Harris Hayes; his daughters, Tracy Reynolds (Steve) and Pam Nipper (Scott); his grandchildren, Tiffany Blaxton (Dustin), Dylan Reynolds, Wesley Johnson (Makayla), Molly Reynolds, Austin Talley (Kalee), Landon Nipper (Kenzie) and Logan Nipper; and his great grandchildren, Judslee Blaxton, Bailey Johnson, Sunny Blaxton, Waylon Johnson and Mae Blaxton.
