She is survived by: her sons, Antonio "Dennis" Andrews (Jamie) and Marcus Andrews (Ebony); her siblings, Emmitt Dooley (Virginia), Willie Bell Sykes, Betty Brackett (Ernest) and Mary D. Jones; and her grandchildren, Taylor Andrews, Jade Andrews, Jourdan Andrews and Jaquavius Scott.

Mevela was a committed activist and community leader who made significant contributions to those around her.
