He was predeceased by: his children, Otis Jerrell Briggs, Jr., Jeffrey Lane Briggs and Bonnie Christine Briggs; and his siblings, Frankie Briggs and Juanita Scott.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Frances Briggs; and his daughter Lyn Briggs. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
