Robert Earl Nabors Obituary
On the morning of Tuesday, July 14, 2020, our Lord and Savior and Rev. Robert E. Nabors had a conversation, and the Lord said unto him, “Come to me thou good and faithful servant and take your rest,” and he did.
Robert Earl Nabors was born on January 7, 1937, to the late Marcellus and Sarah Ann Cunningham Nabors in Pickensville, Alabama. Rev. Nabors matriculated through the Columbus, Mississippi school system and was very proud when he was able to bestow his cap and gown in a later and much anticipated graduation ceremony with his family in attendance. He is also a graduate of The Ministerial Institute and College in West Point, Mississippi.
Rev. Nabors was a devoted husband to his wife of 45 years, Deborah A. Martin Nabors, a loving father to his children, Irma J. Nabors, Keysha (Frederick) Jennings, Erica (Tomuel Tremaine) Hodges, Margie N. Nabors, Marvin (Victoria) Nabors, Robert (Scharlyn) Nabors and his bonus sons, Donald (Shwanda) Gore, Pastor Armondo Adams, Pastor Glen Wilson, Pastor Marcus J. Wilson and Carlos Brooks. Rev. Nabors was the "Neighborhood Dad" that all the children in the Southside Church family and community respected. Rev. Nabors was a man of many trades and occupations from being a Medical Technician, a Commercial Driver, a Janitorial Service Owner, to being a minister of the Gospel for 32 years.
Rev. Robert E. Nabors is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Byron Spencer; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Gore; his sisters, Trudy Knight, Lillian Sharp, Lola Nabors; brothers, Edward Nabors, Roosevelt Nabors, Marvin Bell Nabors and Tommy Nabors.
He also leaves to continue the Nabors name and legacy to his sister, Margie Nabors West, and brothers, Jessie (Rebecca) Nabors, Sr. and Marcellus (Willie Mae) Nabors; 19 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren and dear friends.
