He was predeceased by: his father Rufus Shepherd; his son Billy Shepherd; and his siblings, R. H. Shepherd, Herbert Shepherd, Thomas Shepherd, Waldo Shepherd, George Shepherd, John Shepherd, Clarice Rhodes, Helen McKinney and Evelyn Goodson.
He is survived by: his wife Jackie Godfrey Shepherd; his children, Patricia Shepherd Kibe, Karen Shepherd Cole, Debbie Shepherd Williams (David), Kenny Shepherd (Robin) and Amy Shepherd Cummins (Jon); his stepson Steve Malone; his grandchildren, Destiny Howton Acosta (Joey), Sophia Kibe, Mitchell Howton, Stephanie Malone Corey (Matt), Dalton Malone (Shelly), Reagan Malone, Emily Shepherd, Garrett Cummins, Carter Cummins, Liz Williams, Zach Williams, Cooper Shepherd and Chloe Cummins; and his great grandchildren, Lilly, Luke Corey, Aaliyah Acosta, Collin, Tyler Malone and Talyn Parks.
