He was predeceased by : his parents, Theodore "Teddy" Butler and Elvera Butler; and his siblings, Ronnie Butler and Judith Swan. He is survived by : his children, Kenny Butler (Michele) and Tina Butler; his brother Junior Butler (Wilma); his grandchildren, Douglas Joseph Butler, Noah Culbert, Tyler Beatty, Jake Beatty, Matthew Frye, Sarah Holt Farmer, Ashley Butler, Heather Frye and Allyson Fyre; his great grandchildren, Abram Malone and Gabriel Butler; his daughter Connie Howell; and his nephews, Sean Swan and Shane Butler.

Over the years, he donated to rehabs, cared for the homeless, would buy them food to eat, put them up in hotels and would give out bibles to the ones that did not have one.
