He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlin Garrett and Vana Ray Garrett; and his brother Bob Garrett. He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa Essary (Tracy) and Mandy Scales (Christian); his stepchildren, Todd Murphy (Phyllis) and Jill Tays (Chris); his grandchildren, Lacy Lindsey (Cory), TJ Essary (Kylee), Gabe Scales, Ansley Scales, Amelia Scales, Matt Murphy (Madison), Meredith Bronson (Jerod), Bret Schnabl (Jadyn), Anna Grace Schnabl (Ben) and Eli Tays; and his great grandchildren, Josie, Jett, Poppy, Rigby, Jordy and Jameson.

Visitation was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, August 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Foote Street Church of Christ (903 Foote St, Corinth, MS 38834). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at the Oaks Hill Cemetery (101 Co Rd 606, Corinth, MS 38834).

In Lieu of Flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude, Pinevale Children's Home or a charity of your choice.
