He was predeceased by : his daughter Teresa Marie Long; his wife Helen L. Barnes Long; his parents, Edward H Long and Margurite C Long (Hayhoe); and his sister Rita Baxter.

He is survived by : his children, Edward H. Long III (Beth) of Hiram, GA and Karen Michele Lewis (Jeff) of Birmingham, AL; his siblings, Margie Himes, Carol Avanzato of Virginia, Larry Long (Amparo) of Kentucky and Bernie Long (Sherry) of Maryland; and his grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan Long, Jessica, James and Jeffery Lewis. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
