We announce the death of Rebecca Chancellor Cottingham in Ellisville, Mississippi, who passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 97. Rebecca will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her husband Rev. Russell Cottingham; her parents, Roy Chancellor and Mattie Chancellor; and her siblings, Voncile Morton, Freddie and Rothelle Chancellor.
She is survived by: her children, Ronnie Cottingham (Beverly) and Rosilind Worrell (Johnny); her granddaughters, Christie Merck (Lee) and Jennifer Williamson (David); her great grandchildren, Maggie Whitten (David), Caroline Claton (Cole), Colleen Merck, Kaitlyn Williamson, Peyton Hall (Carter) and Abigail Anslinger (Henri); and her great great grandchildren, Harper Joy, Autumn Jane and Sadie Jo Claton.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ellisville Funeral Home (1204 B Avenue, Ellisville, MS 39437). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Bethlehem Baptist Church (838 Reid Rd, Laurel, MS 39443).
