He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Dear and Nell Dear; and his siblings, Roland Dear and Sydnette Dear Bishop. He is survived by: his wife Sue Dear of Florence; his children, Mark Dear of Florence and Rena Matthews of Belgrade, Montana; his brother John R. Dear (Margie); and his grandchildren, Austin, Megan and Brandon Matthews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Rexford UMC or Mountain Creek Baptist Church building funds.
