He was predeceased by : his parents, Hannibal Astin Echols and Margaret Jordan Echols; his wife Dorothy Williams Echols; and his siblings, Albert "Red" Echols (June), William Sidney Echols (Jerry), Dorothy Brooks Stephens (Johnnie) and Margaret Inez Lollar (Hubert).

He is survived by : his children, Eddie Echols, Larry Echols (Renee) and Gloria Echols.
