He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Leon Ellis and Gladys Austin Ellis; his sisters, Peggy Ellis Box and Dianne Ellis Lancaster; and his niece Shelia Lancaster Cargile.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred'Boots'Ellis; his son Tim Ellis (Vicki); and his grandsons, Austin Ellis (Julia), Peyton Ellis (Bailey) and Reed Ellis (Marita).
