He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Underwood and Evelyn Johnson Underwood; his siblings, Purdie Underwood, Jake Underwood, Shalar Moore, Syble Smith, Ripple Dualney, Gloria Faye Jones, Laura Nell Hubbard, Stanley Underwood, Buddy Underwood, Beatrice Lyle and Alice Betty Jean Underwood; and the mother of his children Nancy McNiece.
He is survived by: his children, Alice Williams of Tupelo, Joe Underwood, Jr. (Dovie) of Lagrange, GA and Tammy Strickland of Fulton; his grandson Doug Strickland of Fulton; and his great grandchildren, Maci Strickland and Ella Strickland.
