He is survived by: his children, John Barry "Bubba" Thompson, Jr. (Paula) of Mantachie, Daniel Umfress (Carrie) of Mantachie, Carrie Thompson Buse (Terry) of Mantachie, Robin Bailey of Guntown and Jennifer Hallman of Huntsville; his brothers, Jerry Donald Thompson (Pam) of Mantachie and Willie Thompson (Alice) of Mantachie; and his grandchildren, Kirsten Hallmark, Joey Eldridge, Shelby Mullins, Michaela Kuchenmeister, John Allan Thompson, Jared Thompson, Charlie Thompson, Deklan Whitaker, Jacob Bailey, Dalton Umfress, Belle Cooper, Branten Umfress, Brinley Umfress, Ian Umfress and Kennedie Storey. He is also survived by 18 Great Grandchildren.
