He was predeceased by: his mother Margaret Askew Lanier; his stepmother Laney Mack Lanier; his former wife Mary Lois Hayman Lanier; his son Lauren Mark Lanier; his sister Rebecca Lanier Kohr; his sister-in-law Ruby Hayman; and his wife Dr. Phyllis Hayes Lanier.
He is survived by: his wife Opal Honea Lanier; his brothers-in-law, Gary Kohr and Charles Lewis Hayman, Jr.; his niece Melinda McBee Lanier; his grandchildren, Ricky Lanier (Kristy) and Becky Lanier Shaw (James); his great grandchildren, Lani, Lucas, Grant, Carter, Bo and Charles "Chuck" Lanier (Sandy); his grandchildren, Jennifer Lanier Darnley (Kevin), Brittany Lanier Carrell (David), Bryan MacArthur (Melissa) and Kathryn Hall (Ryan); his great grandchildren, Emily, Gavin, Killian, Isabella, Abbey, Alex, Tyler, Samantha, Conner, Dylan, Pruett, Wade and Van; his grandchildren, Sydney Lanier Weber (Jerry), Allie Weber Rains (Andrew) and Ashley Weber LeBar (Nate); his great grandchildren, Elise and Gabi; his granddaughters, Laney Lanier Hoelzel (Chris) and Mandy Thompson; and his stepchildren, Gary Honea (Janet), June Gilbert and Stuart Hemphill (Rhonda). He is also survived by children and grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gillsburg Baptist Church (6216 MS Hwy 568, Osyka, MS. 39657). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 at the Mt Vernon Methodist Church (2052 Poole Ln, Gloster, MS 39638).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gillsburg Baptist Church, designated to the Gillsburg Baptist Church Youth Building Fund.
