He was predeceased by: his parents, William C. Dantzler and Buena Sanders Dantzler; and his brothers, Bill Dantzler and Floyd Dantzler. He is survived by: his wife Sarah McCarty Dantzler; his children, Melissa Dantzler Stewart and John Dantzler (Nancy); his sister Sharon Dantzler; and his grandsons, John Dantzler, Jr., Jonathan Dantzler and Joshua Collin Stewart. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
