He was predeceased by: his parents, George F. Hays and Tommie Lee Hays; his wife Nina Thompson Hays; and his siblings, Franklin Hays, Doris Hannah, Helen Barefoot and Frances Brownlee.
He is survived by: his daughters, Virginia Butschek (Michael), Brenda McCaleb and Donna Bagwell (Ricky). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
