As Sonny departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Sonny may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Sonny leaves behind.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Spencer Long and Mary Alice Sanders Long. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Aden Bon Long, Sara Roark Long of Madison, Ann Arrington Long, Brian Carter Long Jr. and Cruise Simmons Long of Jackson; his wife Florence Simmons Long; his sons, Kevin Scott Long (Jennifer Roark Long) of Madison and Brian Carter Long (Ramsey Cruise Long) of Jackson; and his siblings, Ronnie Dean Long and Mary Long Milam.
