He is survived by: his wife Mary Beth Walton Melton; his daughters, Gina Melton Hood (Clay) of Gore Springs and Leslie Melton Bowie of Grenada; his siblings, Mary Ellen Sanders of Grenada and Johnny Melton (Lisa) of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Allison Robinson, Jessica Harrison (Austin), Marti Beth Perez (Jerry) and Carson Bowie; and his great grandchildren, Hadley Robinson, Mary Clayton, Carley, Ella Harrison, Jack, Liam, Oakley, Parker and Sophia Perez.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 18th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, August 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service (4817 Commerce St, Grenada, MS 38901). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, August 19th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Elliott Cemetery (566 Nat G Troutt Rd, Grenada, MS 38901).
