He was predeceased by : his parents, Clyde Franklin and Sallie Francis Motes Bumpers; his siblings, Francis Bayles, Marcy Gates (Carol Butts) and Louis Bumpers; and his grandson John Phillip Pollan.

He is survived by : his wife Linda Montgomery Bumpers; his daughters, Sarah Wilkerson (Ed) of Grenada and Susan Rowe (Scott) of Willard, MO; his sisters, Ellen Roe of Salipta, AL and Jane Roberts (Charlie) of Jackson, AL; and his grandchildren, Olivia Brown (Calop), Faith Kelley, Trevor Kelley and Eli Pollan.
