He was predeceased by: his wife Ann McCarthy; his parents, Hulon Benton and Mary Benton of Wilmington, NC; his brother Gregory; and his mother-in-law Elsie McCarthy of Jacksonville, FL..
He is survived by: his children, Dave (Laurie Benton), Steve (Michelle Benton), Mike (Jane Benton), Julie Kori (Dan) of Canton, GA and Jenni Benton of Jacksonville Beach, FL.; his grandchildren, Kelly, Stephanie, Katie, Stephen, Andrew, Josh and Jamie; and his great grandchildren, Junie, Wes and Elsie.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his memory to the American Red Cross.
