Glenn Carlton Dyer Obituary
Glenn was born May 1, 1954, in Poplarville, MS. to Forrest Ellon Holliday Dyer and George W. Dyer. He was raised in Venice, LA. where George worked for the California Oil Co. The family moved to Long Beach MS. after hurricane Betsy in 1965. Glenn graduated from Long Beach High School in 1972. He went on to work for NASA at the Stennis Space Center rocket testing facility in Hancock County. He also became a certified 6G welder at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS. He worked at Dillon Custom Cabinet Works as a cabinetmaker. He also refinished antique furniture as well as all sorts of wood stoves. Glenn was a vintage automobile & motorcycle enthusiast.
He enjoyed many trips to Daytona, FL with his lifelong friends. He was married to Susan Rioux in 1982. They moved to Maine where together, they raised 3 sons. Glenn was a gifted craftsman who excelled in every project he encountered. He was self-employed as a contractor in home restoration for many years. He also raised several beloved dogs, Bull, Duke & Taz.
Sadly, Glenn passed to his heavenly home on Sunday December 25, 2022. He leaves behind his son, Matthew Dyer & wife Mariah, son Adam & wife Christina, son Benjamin & partner Jamie Alexander, grandsons Chase & Cameron Dyer, sister, Tina Beach & her husband, Douglas & nephew Jackson. Also, Uncle Hudson & Aunt Paulette Holliday, as well as many cousins & lifelong friends. He was predeceased in death by his mother, Forrest Ellon, his father, George W. and his sister, Suzanne Dyer.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations will be welcomed to the Humane Society of Harrison County in his name.
