He is survived by: his father Louis Smith; his stepmother Mary Dell; his wife Charlotte Ann Smith; his children, Ryan Douglas Merrill (Jena) and Sean Rene Merrill; his grandchildren, Elijah Joseph Merrill, Ezra Cole Merrill, Kate Jennings Merrill and Judson Hawk Merrill; and his sibling Robbie Smith.
