He was predeceased by: his wife Peggie Dean Metts; his son James Albert Metts; his parents, C. Preston Metts and Sarah Laura Metts; and his siblings, Thomas Metts, Cameron Metts, Archie Metts and Evelyn Thomas.

He is survived by: his sister Juanita Wells; his daughters, Ann Metts Aitken and Tina Metts; his grandchildren, Randi Smith (Adam), Sheila Brachear (Tony), Preston Cauley (Joy), Jessica Monceaux (Nickolas) and Albert Metts (Baylee); and his great grandchildren, Lincoln Smith, Everette Smith, Moses Wynn, Ezra Monceaux, Eleanor Cauley and Isabel Cauley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
