He is survived by: his wife Katherine Bounds Simmons; his sons, Thomas Scott Simmons and John Edward Simmons; his grandchildren, Mary Katherine Simmons, Thomas Clayton Simmons, Katherine Elizabeth Simmons and Anne Caroline Simmons; his daughter-in-law Jill Simmons; and his brother-in-law C. E. Bounds, Jr. (Carol). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
