He was predeceased by: his parents, Benton Smith and Helen Smith; his son Paul Harold Smith; and his former wife Mary Frances Smith. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Smith; his children, Dawn Smith, Joey Smith (Christian) and Stephen Smith (Caroline); his grandchildren, Culley Smith, Shaw Smith, Dane Broadus and Carrington Ehlers; and his sisters, Dianne Reeves, Pam Holder (Mike) and Debbie Saucier (Mike). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Following the death of his son, Paul, in 1989, Rev. Smith served as chaplain for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation for many years.
