We announce the death of Frances Byrd Carothers of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, born in Anderson, South Carolina, who passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 77. Frances will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Rowan Byrd and Virginia Rees Byrd; and her brother Glenn Edward Byrd. She is survived by: her husband Eugene D. Carothers; her sons, Chamberlan D. Carothers, Robert D. Carothers and Charles E. Carothers (Sandra); and her grandchildren, Davis Carothers, Brewer Carothers, Patrick Carothers, Mia Carothers and Emma Carothers. She is also survived by her parents and brother.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Main Street United Methodist Church (712 Main St, Hattiesburg, MS 39401). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
