It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Frances A. Karnes (Hattiesburg, Mississippi), who passed away on August 22, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John H. Nessler and Carlene F. Nessler; her husband Ray Karnes; her sister Mary Katherine Nessler; and her son Christopher John Karnes.
She is survived by: her son John Joseph Sullivan (Leighanne); her grandchildren, Mary Ryan Brown (Andrew), John Morris Karnes, Emma Leighanne Karnes, Brooks Bryant Karnes and Elizabeth Hunt Karnes; and her great grandchild Meadow Elise Brown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi or the Pine Belt Foundation fund for a children's museum in Hattiesburg, to continue the work Dr. Karnes so passionately began.
