He was predeceased by : his parents, Lee Nanney and Quenie Nanney. He is survived by : his wife Betty Shoemake Nanney; his daughters, Carol Whitfield (Sonny) and Peggy Pearson (John Gower); his grandchildren, Robin Tolbert, Chris Morris (Lura), Lori Retherford (Randy), Thomas Pearson and Rebekah Francisco (Tyrone); his great grandchildren, Kaleigh Roy, Kristopher Morris, Emma Retherford, Ella Retherford, Jaylene Francisco and Jordan Francisco; his stepdaughter Becky Downing (Justin); his stepgrandchildren, Nikki Lightner, Brandon Shoemake, Brooke Sahuque (Garrett), Garrett Watts (Kalene), Cassidy Watts, Emily O'Steen, Haiden Motes and Hunter Motes; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Lilly Lightner and Walker Watts. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Main Street Baptist Church (11 Main St Blvd, Hattiesburg, MS 39402). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at the Highland Cemetery.
