She was predeceased by: her parents, Levi Shannon and Mary Osbey; her son Herman McGilvery; her husband Elbert Balam; and her brothers, Thomas and Richard Osbey.
She is survived by: her children, Sherman McGilvery (Mary), Reginald Waters and Wyomia Waters; her close friend James H. Jones; her goddaughter Katrina Gardner; her grandchildren, Sherman McGilvery, Jr., Kadricka McGilvery, Donmorreya Waters, Deferreyunna Chambers, Damien Waters, Jerrel Burkett and Kingston Gardner; and her sister Brownie Lee Patterson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church (1313 Country Club Rd, Hattiesburg, MS 39401). A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
