He was predeceased by: his parents, C. L. Dews Jr. and Jeanne Dews of Hattiesburg; and his brother C. L. "Joe Buddy" Dews III of Hattiesburg. He is survived by: his wife Patty Overstreet Dews; his children, Robert Carrington Dews Jr. (Rachel) and Lucy Dews Jussely (Daniel); his brother Thomas Alvin Dews (Skip) of Hattiesburg, MS.; and his grandchildren, Daniel Dews Jussely, Sterling Elizabeth Dews, Hallie Carrington Jussely, Stella Claire Dews and Carrington Lane Dews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his name to the First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg, or the USM Athletic Foundation.
