We announce the death of Sara Criswell of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, who passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 89. Sara will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Butler and Mary Hammons Butler; her husbands, Jim Allen and John Criswell; and her siblings, James Butler, Cavit Butler and Joyce Lambert.
She is survived by: her son David (Sonya Allen); her granddaughters, Jade Allen, Maggie Allen and Emily Bennett (Joe); and her sister Hazel Scurry.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home (401 W Canal St, Picayune, MS 39466). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel (401 W Canal St, Picayune, MS 39466). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the New Palestine Cemetery (2336 Palestine Rd, Picayune, MS 39466).
