She was predeceased by: her parents, Oliver Young and Edna Scott Young; her husbands, Herbert Deaton and Bobby Joe Matthews; her sister Barbara Sojourner; and her daughter Ann Deaton Box.
She is survived by: her sons, Don Deaton and Scott Deaton (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Laura Stewart, Brooke Medders and Nathan Deaton; and her nieces, Karen and Susan. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
