He is survived by: his wife Ethel Kees Thompson; his daughter Rebecca Thompson Wynne (Mike); his grandsons, John Tucker and Michael Wynne; his stepchildren, Anne Smith (Stanley), Scott Long, Joseph Wooten, Jay Wooten (Kylie) and Justin Wooten (Sara); and his stepgrandchildren, Mary Parker, Lila Geddie, Amelia Wooten, Maci Wooten, Grant Wooten, Knox Wooten, Nash Wooten and Brady Wooten.
