He was predeceased by: his wife Pat Pettigrew; his son James M. Pettigrew, Jr.; and his parents, Dixon Lee Pettigrew and Sula Lytal Pettigrew. He is survived by: his children, Beverly Pettigrew Doss of Houston, MS, Vicki Shepard of Caledonia, MS, David Pettigrew (Heather) of Roseville, CA and Kevin Hamilton of Caledonia, MS; and his grandchildren, Danielle Newberry (Chris), Kelli Foster (Zach), Leah Stone (Matt), Josh Pettigrew (Ariel), Elisabeth Fletcher (Aidan), Caleb Pettigrew and Elijah Pettigrew.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Houston First Baptist Church (201 W Madison St, Houston, MS 38851). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
